A serious medical condition known as Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), along with severe lung complications

We come to you today with a heartfelt plea for help. A young mother, Sarita, is going through the most difficult time of her life. Her newborn baby, delivered prematurely, has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition known as Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), along with severe lung complications. The baby is currently admitted and undergoing intensive treatment at Girraj Ji Children Hospital.

What Happened?

Sarita went into premature labor and delivered her baby before the full term of pregnancy. As a result of premature birth, the baby’s lungs are not fully developed. Shortly after birth, the baby began having difficulty breathing and was immediately diagnosed with RDS, a condition that is common in premature infants due to a lack of surfactant—a substance that helps the lungs stay open and function properly.

In addition to RDS, the baby is also experiencing other complications related to underdeveloped lungs, requiring constant oxygen support, monitoring, and specialized neonatal intensive care. The medical team has placed the baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where around-the-clock treatment is ongoing.

The Baby’s Condition

The baby is extremely vulnerable and currently dependent on oxygen and medications to support lung function. Doctors have said that continuous care in the NICU is essential to give the baby a fighting chance. Every hour matters. Every day spent in the NICU significantly increases the chances of survival and recovery.

Treatment includes:

  1. Oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation
  2. Specialized medication to help lung development
  3. Constant monitoring of heart rate, oxygen levels, and temperature
  4. Intensive nursing and respiratory support
  • Financial Burden on the Family

Sarita and her family are from a modest background and do not have the financial means to bear the high cost of NICU treatment. The expenses are mounting each day—covering hospital stays, medicines, ventilator support, lab tests, and other emergency interventions.

The doctors have estimated that the baby may need to stay in the NICU for at least 3–4 weeks, and the total cost of treatment is expected to go well beyond ?3 to ?5 lakhs (INR). For Sarita’s family,
  • this is an unimaginable amount. They have already exhausted their limited savings and are struggling to arrange funds for even the most immediate needs.

    Why We Are Reaching Out

In this moment of crisis, we are appealing to kind-hearted individuals, donors, and organizations to come forward and support Sarita and her baby.
